APAA Associate Member Francis Thompson has been awarded the Advancing Our Quality of Life award by the Valentine and Richmond Community Foundation for his curatorial work and advancement of art in Richmond, VA.

Francis, an Art Program Manager at JLL, has worked with Capital One’s extensive art program since 2004. Prior to his work at Capital One, he was an assistant gallery director at Ellipse Arts Center in Arlington, Virginia, as well as gallery coordinator at Virginia Tech Armory Art Gallery — spending the past 17 years showcasing the diversity and culture of the local artist community, non-profits, museums, and universities.

As an arts professional and a community volunteer, Francis says “There is a lot of opportunity for innovation and giving back. I feel like contributing to everybody is a good thing to do.”
