Advisor’s Lens with Mindy Taylor Ross

Advisor’s Lens 🔍
Where we highlight our members’ art historical insights and curatorial expertise.

Advisor’s Lens is an ongoing series that shines a light on APAA members and the expertise they bring to their work—through their art historical knowledge, curatorial experience, and personal connections within the art world.

In this feature, we're spotlighting Mindy Taylor Ross owner of Art Strategies LLC, a fine art consulting agency that works with clients in both the public and private sector. Mindy is sharing insights into the work of Julian Opie, an artist she has had the privilege of working with for nearly 20 years.

In 2007, Mindy collaborated with Opie on what was then his largest public project—a landmark exhibition in Indianapolis featuring eleven multi-media installations, six of which were newly commissioned for the show. “I feel very fortunate to know him, and to have worked with him at that moment in his career," Mindy shared. "He has, of course, gone on to become one of the most recognizable and important artists of our generation.”

Most recently, Mindy attended the opening of Julian Opie’s latest exhibition at Lisson Gallery, a presentation of recent works centered on the theme of a walking figure. Expanding his signature style across sculpture, animation, and painting, the show celebrates Opie’s mastery of movement and form, an evolution refined over four decades. The exhibition is on view through April 19th.

Browse highlights below from the 2007 exhibition alongside images from Opie’s current show at Lisson Gallery.
