Patrick Legant is a former Board Member and Treasurer of the Association of Professional Art Advisors (APAA). His consultancy firm is based in London. He has been working independently for almost fifteen years with individual collectors, estates and institutions worldwide on a highly personal and trusted level, building and expanding collections in his field of expertise as well as helping most successfully with the sale of individual works or entire collections. In 2017, he became a member of the Visiting Committee of the Paper Conservation Department of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and he is a dedicated supporter of the Courtauld Institute of Art in London.
Previously, Patrick Legant spent ten years working at Sotheby's in London. He was a Senior Director in the Impressionist and Modern Art Department, Director of German and Austrian Art and a provenance researcher in the Restitution Department. During those years he was responsible for the sale of record setting collections and works of art.

Patrick Legant studied History of Art in Vienna and Canterbury (UK), and completed his MA at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. He was taught by the late John House, one of the preeminent scholars in the field of 19th century art history. Patrick Legant is frequently featured as an expert in his field and is a close observer of the art market in international news media.
