About

With more than 30 years of experience in the contemporary art market and cultivated access to a vast network of international galleries, Mahony Dady Art Advisory offers unusual reach to any person interested in acquiring art and building a collection. MDAA prioritizes the time and energy to collaborate with each client, sourcing artworks to meet individual aesthetic and scholarly goals, within any budget. Guided by research, art history and ear-to-the-ground fundamentals, MDAA encourages educated decisions in all its recommendations for acquisition, and provides valuable insight to empower and protect any buyer. With years of transactions at galleries, art fairs and auction, MDAA assures its collectors an exceptional experience under the support of a vetted team that is highly regarded in the artworld.

In 1989, Jodi and Maureen began their careers together at the historic Leo Castelli Gallery. During their tenure they oversaw an intensive schedule of exhibitions by gallery artists, the sale of artworks to prominent institutions, corporations and private collections worldwide as well as the cataloguing and representation of Leo’s personal collection.   In 2006, Jodi and Maureen founded Mahony Dady Art Advisory, opening an office at 526 West 26th Street in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood where art galleries and notable foundations are located.

Maureen has a BFA from Pratt Institute and an MA from Hunter College, having written her thesis on multi-disciplinary artist Matthew Barney with historian Katy Siegel. She has curated numerous exhibitions on topics as diverse as abstract photography, women as educators and global climate change. She was archivist and representative for Los Angeles-based, Gagosian artist Robert Therrien for nearly 25 years. She has designed a management database for MDAA and another for individual collectors on FileMaker Pro.

While a junior at the University of Vermont, Jodi interned at Bernard Jacobson Gallery, London, 1986. She then moved to NYC to work at Castelli Graphics where she rose to become director. After the gallery closed in 1998, Jodi worked at Pace Gallery before leaving to privately advise and raise a family. She has served on the board of the American Friends of the Tel Aviv Museum, served as a benefit co-chair for the Public Art Fund, New York and is a supporter of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University.

Both Jodi and Maureen maintain memberships with the Association of Professional Art Advisors and ArtTable.
