David A. Hanks

With a focus on decorative arts, design and craft from the nineteenth century to the present, David A. Hanks has extensive experience in the museum field, including curatorial positions at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Mr. Hanks has curated and organized traveling exhibitions, with accompanying publications, for American and European museums. He has developed major collections for corporations, private collectors and museums. For Domino’s Pizza, Mr. Hanks built a major Frank Lloyd Wright collection, with a traveling exhibition for the Smithsonian Institution. For Tulsa entrepreneur George R. Kravis II, he developed a modern design collection, with two publications. Mr. Hanks has also developed websites for collections, including designedbywomen.org and partnersindesign.org. Recent projects, drawn from the Richard Driehaus corporate collection, include exhibitions on Louis Comfort Tiffany and Hector Guimard.
