Susannah Pollen has a long established background in the art world and more than thirty-five years professional experience in the art market. She founded her advisory company in London in 2004 to give expert opinion on buying and selling Modern, Post-War, and Contemporary European art. She has a strong focus on British works of the 20th and 21st Centuries.
Services
The company provides discreet advice independent of auction houses and dealers. We represent a small number of private individuals acting as their eyes and ears in the market. We understand the passion that drives serious collectors and the importance of astute impartial advice. We also advise new clients and estates who need guidance on how to navigate an unregulated and increasingly complex art world.
We offer comprehensive collection management to safeguard the value of private collections as well as access to an international network of the best expertise in the fields of conservation, insurance, and art logistics.
Credentials
Susannah was brought up and educated in New York and the UK. She holds a BA Joint Honours in History of Art and English Literature from University College, London and joined Sothebys in 1982. She built her reputation while Senior Director of Sothebys Europe and during fifteen years as Head of 20th Century British Art, pioneered successful sales of 20th Century British Sculpture, as well as Post-War British Art.
Susannah has served on panels both as market commentator and art prize judge. She regulary advises the Acceptance in Lieu Panel of the Museums, Libraries, and Archives Council and has negotiated a number of sales to the Tate and other public collections in the UK.
