Lauren Pheeney Della Monica, Principal and Founder of LPDM Fine Art, is an art consultant, writer, and curator. Ms. Della Monica specializes in advising private clients on acquisitions and sales of modern and contemporary fine art tailored to each collector’s interests and tastes. After earning her Royal Society of Arts Diploma in Connoisseurship from Christie’s Education followed by her law degree, Lauren worked in an 20th century American paintings gallery, the Citibank Private Bank Art Advisory Service, the art law group of a Manhattan law firm, and MoMA’s Office of the General Counsel before founding her art advisory firm, LPDM Fine Art, in New York City in 2004. After 22 years in New York City, Lauren relocated to Boston in 2017.
Lauren has written widely about contemporary art, including her titles, Bodies of Work: Contemporary Figurative Painting (Schiffer, 2016) and Painted Landscapes: Contemporary Views (Schiffer, 2013) which are specialized explorations of various aspects of contemporary art. Lauren then curated a major museum exhibition of her book, Painted Landscapes: Contemporary Views, in 2017 at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Her other written work includes an anthology of American Marine painting and various articles on art collecting for art magazines. She has taught art history classes on 19th and 20th Century art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and various other art museums. In 2016, she curated an exhibition of contemporary women’s artwork, Making her Mark, at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut.
