Founded in 2001, Laura Solomon Fine Art LLC is a private advisory whose focus is to help the seasoned or new collector make the best aesthetic and financial decisions when acquiring art.
Laura Solomon, a native New Yorker, graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In 1990, Solomon joined the Gagosian Gallery where her duties included special assistance to the director and research for the Catalogue Raisonn of Roy Lichtenstein's paintings.
In the fall of 1992, Solomon was hired by world-renowned Dutch artist Karel Appel to be his project coordinator. For the next seven years, Solomon oversaw all aspects of project and studio management, including: organizing museum and gallery exhibitions in the United States, Europe and Asia; working with publishers and editors on art monographs and exhibition catalogs; supervising the artist's participation as scenic and conceptual designer for numerous theatre works (Opera Noach, Zauberflote); and authenticating artwork for all of the major auction houses internationally. Additionally, Solomon was project coordinator for Karel Appel Sculpture: A Catalogue Raisonn published in 1994 by Harry N. Abrams, Inc., Publishers. During this time, Solomon managed the artist's studios in New York, Amsterdam, Florence and Monte Carlo.
Projects
Since 1999, Solomon has worked as a private art advisor. Her projects have ranged from high-end residential homes, to corporate offices, to development properties and hotels. Solomon places the greatest importance on honesty, discretion, integrity and resourcefulness. Her ability to address her client's individual needs enable her to create and maintain long lasting, productive relationships with clients and arts professionals.
LSFA has also worked with some of the most prolific and exciting artists living today to help manage their studios and create comprehensive art practices including the development of comprehensive art databases.
Credentials
Solomon has served on the board of NADA, the New Art Dealers Alliance, many benefit committees and is an active member of the APAA, Association of Professional Art Advisors.
