APAA Sponsors ArtTable’s Career Development Roundtable
Recognizing the importance of career mentoring in the art field, APAA has sponsored ArtTable’s Career Development Roundtable since 2014. As a virtual program, the event has expanded geographically to include graduate students in New York, Los Angeles and Washington DC, and is designed to give emerging leaders in arts administration, art business, museum studies, art history, curatorial studies, and arts internships an experience to meet with professional women in the visual arts to discuss career opportunities.
After a warm welcome by APAA’s President, Megan Fox Kelly, participants had the opportunity to meet with leaders in the field. This year, APAA members Stacey Gershon and Lauren Hilyard provided career insights and answered questions ranging from what it is that art advisors do in a day to how advisors develop clients. Art students asked about pricing their work and another student asked about issues around flipping. Lauren and Stacey discussed APAA’s code of ethics, and the importance of standards in the art advisory field. Our thanks to ArtTable for providing APAA with the opportunity to share in this impactful programming.
